In recent years, sandblasting stainless steel has been squeezed into the ranks of decorative materials with its own advantages. Its strong granularity combined with the original cold stainless steel creates a visual feeling and greatly enhances the user experience.
So what is sandblasting stainless steel sheet? Will sandblasted stainless steel rust?
Sandblasting stainless steel sheet is also commonly known as bead blasted stainless steel sheet. Generally refers to the use of compressed air flow to spray quartz sand on the surface of the stainless steel plate, cleaning or modification of the surface. Common sandblasting processes include dry sandblasting and wet sandblasting. At present, sanding stainless steel on the market is mainly dry sandblasting.
Sanding stainless steel surfaces presents fine sandy particles. In places with weak light, the surface does not feel smooth, while in places with sufficient light, the surface looks glossy.
Sandblasting treatment is also called shot blasting. It is to spray steel sand (steel balls) on the surface of stainless steel with a machine to form a well-distributed rough surface and improve the quality and finish of the product surface. After sandblasting, it can be sprayed, electroplated, PVD, etc.
The main functions of bead blasted stainless steel:
1. Polish the stainless steel surface to make it more beautiful.
2. Make the stainless steel surface smooth and non-reflective.
Sandblasting on stainless steel can achieve different reflective or matte surface at will of the stainless steel. Such as matte stainless steel surface, pattern on the surface, and roughen processing.
3. Eliminate stress and surface strengthening
Hit the stainless steel surface through sand pills to eliminate stress and increase the strength of stainless steel surface.
Will stainless steel rust after sandblasting?
We know that stainless steel plates rely on a very thin and stable chromium-rich oxide film (protective film) formed on its surface to prevent the continued infiltration and oxidation of oxygen atoms, so that the stainless steel sheet has the ability to resist corrosion. However, since sandblasting treatment is achieved through physical impact, after sandblasting is completed, the stainless steel sheet must do with passivation treatment, repair the damaged chromium-rich oxide film, and restore the corrosion resistance of stainless steel, so that the sandblasting plate will not easily rust and greatly improve its service life.
Sandblasted stainless steel finish is also a popular product in the color stainless steel plate industry. After electroplating, it has become the second largest process in the industry. After titanium coating ,the bead blasted stainless steel sheet can be made into a variety of colors. Commonly, there are golden bead blasted stainless steel sheet, champagne gold bead blasted stainless steel sheet, rose gold bead blasted stainless steel sheet, black bead blasted stainless steel sheet, gray bead blasted stainless steel sheet, etc.
Stainless steel bead blasted sheet can also be used for fingerprint resistance. The stainless steel bead blasted sheet with anti-fingerprint treatment will not leave fingerprints even if touched by hand, and it is very easy to clean.
For stainless steel decorative sheets, the most important role of sandblasting is its texture-- low-key and luxurious, and the pattern produced by partial sandblasting. It can improve the delicateness of the surface, and secondly, it increases the uniformity of the entire decorative sheet.
